Adventure to the Wave Organ
We just recently learned about the Wave Organ after living in SF for 10 years. The Wave Organ is a sculpture created by the Exploratorium in 1986 that sits at the very end of the peninsula that juts out past the St. Francis Yacht Club in the Marina. It consists of cement piping that goes down into the water in such a way that if you listen at one end of the pipe, you can hear notes playing from the waves. The best sound comes during high tide. It's a cool semi-SF secret and a great walk out into the bay with amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and passing boats. If you're lucky, the water will be choppy enough that the waves crash against the sea wall and shoot up 20 ft in the air - pretty cool to watch!
Tips:
-Pack or buy lunch to enjoy at the Wave Organ
-It gets windy, so pack jackets.
-The Palace of Fine Arts and Presidio are nearby, if you're looking to get your steps in.
